Each stage has at least two rare items that require you to fully complete the stage to obtain one (thus you'll have to play stages multiple times to get everything), as well as other items hidden behind destructible walls - of course, you can add a Dowsing feature to your shots to make the controller rumble when you're near a secret wall.Īnyway, all this combined with the fun level design and great boss battles would be enough, but no, Inti Creates goes the extra mile. Items can be CP boosts, extra customization elements for your shots/character, or Pixel Stickers that you can use for your personal avatar and/or shot icons. These items add a huge amount of replay value. You get CP by collecting small amounts scattered around the levels, or by getting Rare Items. If you don't have enough CP, you won't be able to use your customized shot, and the more broken elements (such as increasing your damage output) cost a ton of CP. If you could make tons of insanely cheap shots the game would be braindead easy though, so you have CP limits. Boss weaknesses are also present in the form of "elements", so rather than needing, say, a specific electric-themed weapon, you can just add a Shock element to whatever shot you want.
You can change the bullet size, how many shots you fire, toggle charge shots, make them curve, reflect off surfaces, explode upon contact, reduce the damage you take while using that type of shot, etc.
Like Mega Man, Beck can shoot projectiles based on what the bosses use, but it's just a visual effect in this game with no actual difference from the normal shot - instead, you can customize each shot to an insane degree. Mighty Gunvolt Burst's real draw is that basically takes Mega Man's ability to copy enemy powers and goes wild with it. TBH it's not really that important and you can completely ignore the mechanic if you don't care about score, but it can be less useless when you're playing as alternate characters with meters that fill faster when you get a Burst. With this you can get a "Burst" by killing an enemy while standing close to it, which gives you a score boost and keeps your Burst combo going. First off, Beck no longer has his stupid dash-to-kill gimmick from MN9, instead replacing it with the titular Burst.
